Desert Explosion

Recently done in my spare time, 3dsmax 2011 and fumefx 2.1a, rendered with default scanline. Still version 1, i need to tweak some more things to it.

Roman Tomb

This a really old project, which i thought it would be nice to re-render, just to make it better looking and also play around with render passes from mental ray.

I hope you enjoy it.. :)

Some fun with and old scene

This is a short scene made by me, in the past. I wanted to make a fun animation with it to test my new workstation, a brand new I7 CPU at 4ghz (overclocked ofc).

Enjoy

Basilica stage 2

So, i bring you a new test, same basilica, to show you the progress on this project. Hope you like how it is coming along.

I recommend you to see it straight on Vimeo, the quality is better and you get HD quality as well.

Big project coming up

So, I've started to work on a big project and this is the first test, a GI test to see how Mental Ray 3.6 performs, with 3dsmax 2009.
For the moment, enjoy the smoothness of the GI solution which took only 40 minute to bake for a 300 frame animation, and rendered with a dual-core E5200 OCed to 3.4 Ghz. Quite fast also, about 35-40 seconds per frame, with a 1024x585 res, Lanczos filter for anti-aliasing.
Composited with blender ofc :).

I am planning a lot of big things for this upcoming project, first thing will be to create a website for it, and as soon as that is done, i will post a lot of details about it. Until then, enjoy this test and the many more to come. :)

Reactor and camera animation test in 3dsMax9 SP2

In this scene, i played a bit with reactor and camera animation in 3dsMax 9 SP2. I tried to obtain the effect of someone who gets knocked down by a large object and after that has trouble getting up and at the same time, has trouble realizing what the hell happened. It was made about 5-6 months ago, never got the chance to post about it, and it needs some serious tweaking since the camera lifts up a bit to fast from the ground.

Blender Fire and Smoke Effects

Blender Fire and Smoke effects from Florin Mocanu on Vimeo.

I followed the tutorial posted in blenderart magazine, nr. 16 about fire and after that i used that method to make the smoke, with another particle system. Also, i tweaked the compositing for my own needs, since the tutorial gave a way to uniform look on the flames, so i made them stand out a bit more. About 11-12 seconds of rendering time for each frames, 250 frames long.

Hope you enjoy it.

Update 1:

I played a bit more with the settings, especially the smoke, as someone from VA pointed out.

bunny architectural fun :)

So, today i did a couple of architectural exterior renderings as a test for an architect, as a test to show how i can handle exterior renderings.

Nothing fancy for materials. Simple Vray displacement for the grass, some displacement for the pavement, which is a tileable texture made in about 30 minutes of work in Photoshop.

Afternoon lighting

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

At the end, i changed the lighting a bit and added some character in the scene :). Meet Rabbit, main character in Big Buck Bunny, making some early morning exercises on the fresh cut grass.
I didn't texture him, i just wanted to export the .blend file in a .obj format. And it exported perfectly. And it rendered with no problem as well. Enjoy the bunny powah :)

In short, the house model is not mine, it belongs to the architect to gave me permission to use it, made in Arhicad. The trees are taken from the Evermotion collection, i just don't have the time to model them for some test renders. And it's not productive also.

Lighting test and some of my plans.

This is a lighting test, and also a water shader test done about 5-6 months ago in 3dsMax 9, rendered with MR. I textured just the water and i tried to get a summer hot day atmosphere, which i think i succeeded, though there are things i would improve now.

I hope you enjoy it.

At the moment, i'm quite busy, but probably in 1-2 weeks i will start to work on a proper demo reel, which i don't have right now. I'm still thinking what i would like to emphasize on, but enviroment modelling, texturing, lighting etc. will be the main theme, since i enjoy doing that a lot.
Architectural renderings are something i enjoy working on, but i'm not planning to emphasize that in my future demo reel.

Have fun in this hot summer day .
